The cat languishes on the open window sill. Stretched out on the hard surface, he feels the heat emenating through his fur, and careening along his elongated muscles. He curls up his claws and emits a loud purr of satisfaction, as he tilts his chin up towards the yellow ball in the sky.
He doesn't know what it is, nor does he care, as long as it remains hung high in the canvas of blue and continues radiating it's warmth through the window and onto his back. This remains his favourite time of day; When his mistress is out, the house is silent and the golden orb warms up the room. He awakens abruptly hours later, as the click of the door unlocking penetrates the silence. He gazes back up at the length of blue…

The warmth penetrates his soul, the stretching helps him unfurl and the rhythm of his low purrs rumble through his body, softly lulling him into a deep slumber.
He awakens abruptly hours later, as the click of the door unlocking penetrates the silence. He gazes back up at the length of blue above him, and it seems to have darkened. The yellow sun seems to have fallen from it's hanging place up high and is no longer bright or warm. It must have gone back into hiding, he thinks to himself, but this does not worry him, for he's learnt that each day it will return to play.
He patters quickly to his mistresses side, winding in between her legs with enthusiasm. For he knows that the nights are for his mistress, but the days are shared with the golden orb. He happily races into the bedroom, leaps onto the bed and makes himself comfortable. He settles down patiently awaiting cuddle time with his mistress and the morning light that will return his orb to him once more.
