Wandering from the gently, swirling sea, her gown,

Clinging to her sensuous form, she lay on soft sand,

Her hair spreading over smooth rocks to dry

In the hot summer sun: which shone, above the deep blue sea.

Her dress, pure white, giving an awareness of innocence,

Which challenges, the power of the watcher’s eyes?

As a reflection of blue skies, shines on the deep blue sea

She rises, running her fingers through her hair,

Swinging her head gracefully, as her long golden hair cascades as in a waterfall.

Watching from the dunes hidden from her sight

He wonders at the beauty of her sensuous form, now partially hidden,

In pure white, giving an awareness of innocence,

Which challenges, the power of the watcher’s eyes?

She moves enticingly towards the dunes, towards him,

With a fleeting look, there is an element of surprise as

He takes her in his arms, the mother of his child.

Adam West Guest Editor said "Diane and Jay are much better and peotry than I and I like both their interpretations as I, in fact liked, Viviene the poem, and Vivienee the woman too I should add :-) ...many thanks Adam"

Jay Leffew said "I saw it slightly differently, which I think is a measure of this poem's depths. I felt she was young and innocent, and the child was conceived at that point. In fact I realise that Diane probably got it right, so I'll smack my hand for being so cynical; sorry, and yes, this is a lovely poem, thank you."

Diane Dickson Guest Editor said "Well I was going to call her a brazen hussy but I take it back and just say I'm jealous of her, with that hair and body and then the lover - sheesh she got the lot didn't she. :-). This was beautifully sensuous and romantic. Thanks - diane"
