Beneath sky, and meadow fair,

Dawdle, amble, I can but stare,

For me here, no I have non a care ...

Beads of joy fall and grace,

Right here and now, and strike my face,

So must I now swell, 'tis the start of the race,

Oh! Yet dwell not me of mine, in the pond place divine,

Tumble and churn, 'tis truly for me, my turn,

To run and race, from meadow to burn,

A stream not I! This my nature I soon learn,

Cool and clear, now a torrent thus through high fern.

Dubious origins from whence I came,

Pulling me down, to my river so tame,

My character, to ebb and flow, I join the same.

So Goodbye! A Riverlet was once my name...

Jay Leffew said "I'm not comfortable with this form of poetry, I always want there to be some rhythm and metre, but the repeated rhymes and the sense of a rivulet getting taken over by its larger brother is very real. I have written a couple of such poems; 'Beneath Me', and 'My feet are cold...' I suppose I could try them on this site?"
