About this Short Story
Written by
Jay Leffew
My husband died six years ago this month; this is a combination of four poetical passages he wrote to me from prison, so not my work at all. Needless to say I think of him more at this time of year, 'though I never stop missing the sharing...

Loneliness catches me at moments when I least expect it;
Today I was reminded of you; taken back to a special place in time;
As I thought of you, a certain sort of sadness filled my heart,
Even though the memories we have are beautiful, and thinking back on them fills my heart with joy.
I miss your soul surrounding mine in complete love, and my eyes swell with tears because we are so far apart.
---
I miss you, very much...
Today I have thought about you so often; I have missed you, and cherished you;
I have dreamed countless dreams of us together, reaching for clouds and searching for stars,
So that we may see and climb even higher.
I have encountered a hundred little things that I wanted to share with you,
But you were not there...
It made me appreciate you, and our times together, even more;
Yet still I will save all these things in my heart and mind, so that I may share all that I am…

Short Story: The Prisoner
Loneliness catches me at moments when I least expect it;
Today I was reminded of you; taken back to a special place in time;
As I thought of you, a certain sort of sadness filled my heart,
Even though the memories we have are beautiful, and thinking back on them fills my heart with joy.
I miss your soul surrounding mine in complete love, and my eyes swell with tears because we are so far apart.
---
I miss you, very much...
Today I have thought about you so often; I have missed you, and cherished you;
I have dreamed countless dreams of us together, reaching for clouds and searching for stars,
So that we may see and climb even higher.
I have encountered a hundred little things that I wanted to share with you,
But you were not there...
It made me appreciate you, and our times together, even more;
Yet still I will save all these things in my heart and mind, so that I may share all that I am with you.
It is my greatest wish to give you all the love you could ever need;
To touch you so that you will know I'm always there;
To cherish you above all others;
To respect you, and to remind you that you are the one I love.
-----
It's all your fault you know; - I've hardly accomplished anything today.
Every time I begin something, you creep into my thoughts,
Softly, slowly at first, and before I know it my imagination is filled with thoughts of you;
Warm thoughts;
Nice thoughts;
Loving thoughts;
But this is getting out of hand; I have to get something done tonight,
So maybe I'll begin with doing something very, very important;
I'll send this to you, just to let you know how much I miss you,
How much I need you,
And how very much I love you.
