Okay the thing that you have to understand about dragons is that you can’t trust ‘em. My dragon’s called Clive. I didn’t name him by the way, the dragon master named him when he hatched, so he’s Clive. Whenever the dragon master comes round to check on him he’s all sweet and cute, tiny little sparkles through his nostrils and his tail wrapped round his toes. Ten minutes later he’s scorched all the clothes on the line and he’s destroying Mum’s roses playing tailball with his mates.

The other day I came home from a sleepover at Dustin’s. I like going to Dustin’s. His mum’s a brilliant cook and his dad’s a mountain dwarf and you know how big they are.

There’s always tons of great things to eat and his dad takes us out to play Belly Cave. That’s where we get to hide in the folds in his belly or thumb bungy where he ties us to his thumb with…

Diane Dickson Guest Editor replied saying "He he, glad you enjoyed it, wouldn't it be wonderful - I wonder if they'd pose a fire risk though in a modern house, hmm maybe they could live in a hutch!! We have little wall lizards here and sometimes just the odd green lizard and I just keep hoping that maybe one day..."

Diane Dickson Guest Editor replied saying "Yes indeedy Patsy a dragon is there for us all if we just look isn't it. Actually my garden is full of dragons, they are disguised as wall lizards and their even more amazing cousins Green Lizards but I know they can fly - I've seen 'em. (Mind you it was from the roof and pretty well straight downwards but as you say imagination is king)"

Patsy R Liles replied saying "Ah, Diane, I would recommend just letting go and let imagination reign. Viola, you can have a dragon as often as you have time for it. I wonder if it would grow to the proportions of Anne Rice's flying dragons. They were so huge, so protective of the flyers on their backs, and took them so very close to the mean Red Planet! I wanted one of my own then, too. What would we do without stories? Goodness it would be a very dull and unaspiring world. Patsy"

Diane Dickson Guest Editor replied saying "Aw thanks Patsy - the only problem I have with it really is (and don't tell anybody this) it's fiction - I would love it to be true!!! I'd love a dragon."

Helen Somers said "Hi Diane. Great story, like a modern day fairy tale. I bet dragon poo is pretty ripe! Enjoyed it immensely, but then again, I am a big kid!"

Meg Malpass said "Thank you Diane. Don't usually read fantasy yet I can see how a lot of children would be e-mailing you for that egg. Good Luck."

Diane Dickson Guest Editor replied saying "I'll have to find a good way to pack it - I should think a broken egg would be a bit of a mess. Apparently during the war my father in law was based near a farm and used to send fresh eggs to his wife packed in his dirty socks - hmmm that's a thought. - Thanks for the read and the comment - Diane"

Jay Leffew said "What an absolute delight this is. A smashing bit of fantasy, with a modern edge to the presentation; - how much do you want for it? Great stuff, and good luck, (as if you need it...)"

Diane Dickson Guest Editor replied saying "Hi Jay - thanks so much for your kind comment. I have to be honest and admit I'm not sure what the going rate for a dragon egg let alone a newly hatched draglit. Maybe I need to look on e-bay? - Cheers - Diane"
