About this Short Story
Written by
Jay Leffew
I went to Morocco in the middle of winter to get a tan, in my twenties; - it wasn't worth it, and I'm not sure my experience did much more for me than learn that you feel increasingly ill for the first five days of starving yourself, (I didn't have enough money left for food), but had more energy than I knew what to do with on the sixth day, and had to keep going for long walks!

I can't be bothered with holidays; you can see all you need on TV.
Curiosity isn't my thing, don't you know, so I'd rather stay home on my lap-top.
If you're going abroad any distance at all, you spend half your time with jet-lag;
after all trav'lng is really tiring, - and when you come home you're expiring.
I don't even get on with day-trips; these days I'm content just to stop,
and the money I save has been really useful, - bought a new fan to save me perspiring.
---OR---
How exciting to travel, to really unravel; experience sounds, tastes and sights
of other cultures; thus we, like vultures, devour colours and customs, - bright lights!
Or perhaps be more peaceful, (as I'd be more wishful), of mountains or forests or plains;
maybe trek through all three; go on safari; skiiing, sailing, climbing, riding trains.
There's so much to enjoy. If you've money, employ a pilot; explore in a plane,
or a yacht; - cruise and dine; indulge in fine wine;…

There's so much to enjoy. If you've money, employ a pilot; explore in a plane,
or a yacht; - cruise and dine; indulge in fine wine; sky-dive, bungee-jump; - be quite insane!
'Course there's always home-hols, still quite high in the polls of popular spots and resorts,
like Cornwall ar Kent; the Highlands or Ghent, Blackpool, Cheddar Gorge or the 'forts',
and there's always the beach; day-trips, easy to reach; Hop-tours, Go-karts or Pony-treks;
Theme-parks and fun-fairs; side-shows selling their wares, then home again, tired, happy; - what's next?
