Every time I hear 'Sunday, bloody sunday' by U2, I think of that famous photograph depicting the massacre. This is my tribute to the fallen.

What a wonderful world?

Young, impassioned faces;

Hopeful, twinkling eyes full of longing.

Voices and hearts crushed.

The young stood up,

They wanted to change the world.

Now they crouch in the streets,

Their hands in the air.

They surrender,

Their longing, their dreams and their lives.

Frightened eyes now stare into the barrels of shotguns,

As triggers are pulled.

Big dreams and hopeful hearts,

Are bulldozed down in a rally of bullets.

The blood lines the streets,

As the innocent crumble.

Jay Leffew said "One wonders why Homo Sapiens is always so prone to such horrors. Why they allow themselves to descend into the depravity of wars, when they are supposed to be rational thinking beings. Soldiers 'have to obey orders'; - how do they feel about being ordered to slaughter like this? Their leaders are like rabid dogs, out of control, but surely there must be some who abhor the vileness of such killings, and perhaps only pretend to aim at another human being?.........You can't say it's the madness caused by over-population, because such horrors have been going on throughout our history, but aren't we supposed to learn from it? - You offend me, and I take a knife to you? One leader of a country offends another, and they take their arsenals to each other? - it's so bestial and primitive, yet human tools (our soldiers) are equipped with ever more devastating equipment with which to reduce populations en-masse, and no-one can do a thing to prevent it? God help us, will we ever learn common sense?"

Adam West Guest Editor said "I have that album: I think it's called War - can't remember for sure. An iconic cover if ever there was. Emotive subject that I won't dwell on - well written (I would exchange shotguns with rifles)...many thanks Adam"

Katie Celeste replied saying "Thanks, yeah every time i hear the song or see the photograph then i'm just filled with sadness at the thoughts that were going through their heads when it was all happening. I worry that since U2 has become such a big band, and the song is played so often on the radio that some of the historical basis of the events have been lost on the younger generation. :("
