Today I saw a small bird sitting on my window-sill. It was so beautiful, not conscious of danger that surrounded it. I admired its colourful wings and wanted to help it. It reminded me of a better world, took me to my dreamland. The never ending land of happiness, love and peace, with none of that bad stuff we’ve got here.

I’ve heard a shot.

It was the last time I saw this bird.

At least my stomach is full now.

Gavin Dobson said "Shooting a small bird from close quarters would virtually obliterate it and create a mangled heap of bloody feathers and bone--if it could be found at all. You would have to be very small for this mess to fill your stomach. Has the author tried dog?"

Bartlomiej Bania replied saying "do we have to be that literal? the beauty of human imagination is that everything can be possible, even shooting a small bird without makina a mess, not to mention filling one's stomach with it. have the author tried a dog? not yet."

Diane Dickson Guest Editor said "Well - this is honest - it makes me think of my son and daughter in law taking the children to see the lambs in the field and then coming back to eat chops. A shame but life in the raw I suppose and an amusing way to end the piece."
