BEWARE: DANGEROUS RED TEDDY
The sign up above read “beware
Of this dangerous, red teddy bear.
He doesn’t look much,
But his temper is such
That he’ll scream if you get in his hair!”
He didn’t look too much to me,
But then I was only aged three.
I put my hand to his head,
Which was ever so red,
And I smacked him and giggled with glee.
He sat and he stared for a while,
Then his face it broke into a smile.
“If you’re going to be bad,
You’ll get me quite mad -
And I’m really not one you should rile!”
I gave both his ears a quick tweak -
I’d never known bears that could speak.
I blew in his eyes
And I tickled his sides,
But he sat there all mild and all meek.
But just as I got up to go,
The teddy bear’s face was aglow.
He turned redder than red,
“You were warned, mate!” he said -
And he jumped up and down on my toe.
