About this Short Story

Written by
Keith W Stevens

I don't do 'Yearly' summaries. It's specifics - dates, times, places that make my year tick. I secretly like receiving news in December from abroad and these Isles about how well the carrots have done and how hot it is south of the Equator . I thought I would add to the malaise...

A year looking at the calendar, only - I wish it was more scintillating but it isn’t.

January

Dancing recommences 11th:

We – that’s my wife and I dance on Monday evenings. I’m still at the learning stage after three years. John Sergeant is my ultimate hero. I wrestle with rhythm. I sometimes shout at my feet to ‘keep up’. I love it. It’s a challenge. Every week we go. I don’t like the cha-cha. I think the arm movements are gay.

Keith W Stevens replied saying "Hi Alice I receive several 'what has happened to us/me in the year past' letters in December of every year. They increase as the years go by. I've got my own problems. Not so significant perhaps but... My offering was an 'alternative' view in 2010 atleast. It's unusual to receive comments on this piece after so long. How did you stumble on it. Was your curser intoxicated...."

Jay Leffew said "I did enjoy these little vignettes of life, once I'd got into the feel of them. Full of humour and observations, which seemed to get better as the 'diary' progressed. Thank you."
