They sat there,
For weeks and weeks.
Forgotten and unforgiving,
Like everything else.
Once they were loved,
Once they meant something.
Only to a little girl,
But that’s still someone.
They were everything to her,
‘Yes, we had sentimental value.’
‘Once we were alive,
We danced, walked, we did everything.’
‘Then times changed,
We lost control over her decisions.’
‘We became less important,
Then finally, we became out of fashion.’
‘It had to happen sometime,
But all the same, we got angry.’
‘We would have thrown a tantrum,
But being as we are, it’s a bit hard.’
‘So the next season,
When we became in fashion again.’
‘We did something terrible,
Something no-one could forgive.’
‘When the young girl tried us on,
We once again took over.’
‘But what she didn’t know, was we were still angry,
So not even a warning sign.’
‘After that terrible night,
We never saw her again.’
‘Sure we heard of her,
But only as a picture of the past.’
‘Now we sit here,
Unwanted and guilt stricken.’
‘Forever alone,
And to think, we were once her favourites.’
Her shiniest,
Her tallest,
Her hottest,
Her knee-high boots.
