Enid Blyton's Head: Shortbread's Light Bite

Published 9 months ago

Today we have another ode to a great writer from Steve Douglas.

Enid Blyton's Head by Steve Douglas

I want to join The Famous Five,

Because I’m only ten inside,

And if I could then I’d reside

In Enid Blyton’s head.

A land that’s waiting there for me,

For boys still run away to sea,

And Mother always makes the tea,

In Enid Blyton’s head.

A secret Prince could live next door,

You might find gold beneath the floor,

If you get past the secret door

To Enid Blyton’s head.

In Enid Blyton’s head The Famous Five are always bold,

And The Find-Outers don’t grow old,

And you can always leave a bolster in your bed.

I’d love to leave this world

And play with all the boys and girls

Who are living there in Enid Blyton’s head.

The garden’s always in full bloom,

The hols will never come too soon,

The maid will always do your room

In Enid Blyton’s head.

Mysterious happenings in the night,

So many villains left to fight,

It’s always clear who’s wrong and right

In Enid Blyton’s head.

In Enid Blyton’s head you can escape from Spiggy Holes,

If you are wearing rubber soles,

And if you keep the secret password in your head.

With a strong imagination you can join The Famous Five,

And your childhood will survive -

It will be alive in Enid Blyton’s head.

So close your eyes and drift through time,

Until you’re ten, or even nine,

For everything will turn out fine

In Enid Blyton’s head.
