InterAct Ruth Rendell Short Story Competition
Published 1 year ago
Today is UK Stroke Awareness Day, which sees the launch of the second Ruth Rendell Short Story Competition hosted by the award winning charity InterAct Reading Service.
InterAct is a wonderful charity dedicated to supporting stroke recovery by using professional actors to deliver a live and interactive reading service to people who have had a stroke. Shortbread is more than familar with the theraputic nature of a well narrated story, and InterAct works to improve the rate and quality of an individual's recovery by delivering witty and inspiring short stories specially selected to suit the needs of stroke patients. The readings are designed to speed recovery by improving mood, stimulating the brain and providing much needed entertainment.
This very worthy cause is launching it's second writing competion today. The challenge is to write a piece in any genre in no more than 1000 words. The winner of the competition will receive £1000 and will be commissioned to write four further stories for InterAct Reading Service over the course of one year. The closing date for submissions is Saturday 29 October 2011, World Stroke Awareness Day. The winner will be chosen by Baroness Ruth Rendell of Babergh, C.B.E, who will present the award to the winner at a ceremony to be held in 2012.
Stories can be submitted online or by post. Please find more details and terms and conditions of entry on the InterAct Reading Service website: www.interactreading.org
Good luck Shortbreaders!
