| Life Story: | I was a secretary for a firm of land agents, where I dealt with various clients from titled landowners with acres of land to students looking to rent a flat the company managed. Leaving work to raise a family, and having always loved books in a wide range of genres, I finally decided to start writing and quickly became hooked. I am especially fond of fairy tales that query who the real villain is and am a huge fan of the Shrek and Discworld series. I regularly attend the Winchester Writing Conference and subscribe to Mslexia and Writers' News and Writing Magazine. I am also a member of the P.G. Wodehouse Society (UK) and the Association of Christian Writers. I have recently become an Associate Member of the Society of Authors. I write fantasy novels about a disillusioned fairy godmother who does the unthinkable (by her world's standards) by defecting to marry a human with severe consequences for herself and the daughter she was not meant to have. I'm currently trying to place the novels. I have recently branched out into short story writing and had two published in September 2009. One is out with Bridge House Press's Alternative Renditions fairy tale anthology. The other is on the Writers' News website as second prize winner in their First Line Short Story competition. I love writing and reading and spend as much time as I can doing both! I’ve always wanted to write. English was my best subject at school and I always loved what used to be called composition. Being told to read a book was and still is my idea of bliss! I didn’t start seriously until after my 30th birthday, not long after my son was born. Whether it took two major milestones like that to get me going I can’t honestly say. Maybe it was a sub-conscious thing. I do know I’ve never regretted writing. I only wish I had started sooner now. |
